Site Kit by Google
Our take
Site Kit is the simplest way to connect Google's free tools to WordPress: no tracking code to paste, and your search clicks, visits and page speed appear right in the dashboard. It is made by Google and costs nothing. Some site owners find the dashboard basic compared with Google Analytics itself, but for a quick overview it is ideal.
Good
- Official plugin from Google, completely free
- No code needed to add Analytics or Tag Manager
- Search Console data inside WordPress
- Stats for each post and page
Watch out
- Needs a Google account for each connected service
- Dashboard shows a summary, not the full reports
Site Kit connects your WordPress site to Google’s tools in a few clicks. Sign in with your Google account, choose the services you use, and Site Kit adds the necessary code and shows the most important numbers on your dashboard.
Google tools you can connect
- Search Console: how often your pages appear in Google and which searches bring visitors
- Analytics: visitors, sources and goals
- AdSense: earnings from ads on your site
- PageSpeed Insights: speed scores with tips to improve them
- Tag Manager: set up without editing code
Who it suits
Site owners who want key traffic and search numbers inside WordPress, and agencies who want clients to see their stats without logging in to several Google products. Permissions let you decide which users see which data.
Install from your dashboard
In WordPress, go to Plugins, then Add New. Search for “Site Kit by Google” and click Install, then Activate.
Install from the zip file
Download the zip on this page. In WordPress, go to Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin. Choose the file, click Install Now, then Activate.
Requires WordPress 5.2 and PHP 7.4 or newer.
Do I need Site Kit to use Google Analytics?
No, but Site Kit adds the tracking code for you and shows key numbers in WordPress without opening Google Analytics.
Does Site Kit slow down my site?
The plugin itself works in the dashboard. The Google tags it adds, such as Analytics, load on the front end as they would with any other setup.
